About

Counselling in Maple Ridge

Emily Beckett's work at The Wholehearted is grounded in the belief that meaningful change happens when you feel seen, understood, and have the support needed to step into agency.

Many of the people she works with are used to holding a lot—managing responsibilities, showing up for others, and keeping things together on the outside—while internally feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or unsure how to shift patterns that no longer feel good.

Through counselling, Emily supports adults in making sense of their experiences, understanding themselves more clearly, and creating change that feels steady and lasting—not forced or surface-level.

What Working Together Can Feel Like

Emily’s approach is warm, collaborative, and tailored to you.

Sessions are shaped around your goals and what is actually helpful—whether that means:

  • finding ways to manage anxiety or overwhelm day-to-day

  • understanding patterns in relationships that feel hard to shift

  • working through the impact of past experiences or trauma

  • building more clarity, confidence, and emotional steadiness in relationships

This work often includes both practical support for what’s happening now and space to explore deeper underlying patterns—so change feels meaningful, not temporary.

Emily also recognizes that faith and spirituality can be an important part of counselling. When it’s relevant to you, this can be integrated in a way that feels respectful, safe, and aligned with your values.

In your first sessions, you’ll work together to create a plan that fits your life—at a pace that feels manageable and supportive.

Training & Background

Emily is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and Registered Social Worker (RSW), offering counselling in Maple Ridge or virtually across BC.

She completed her Master’s degree at Trinity Western University and continues to pursue advanced training in trauma, emotional processing, and relationship-focused therapy. This includes certification in traumatic stress through the Trauma Research Foundation, as well as Level 2 training in both Emotionally Focused Therapy and the Gottman Method.

Her professional experience includes supporting individuals in shelters, schools, a women’s recovery home, healthcare settings, and private practice. This background informs her ability to support immediate concerns, crises, and deeper, long-standing patterns.

Emily draws from evidence-based approaches including Emotionally Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems, AEDP, somatic work, and Satir. When helpful, she also integrates more structured strategies such as CBT.
